The document provides an overview of the Naxalite movement in India. It began in 1967 as a peasant uprising against landlords in the village of Naxalbari in West Bengal. The movement was inspired by Maoist communist ideologies and has since spread to 72 districts across 9 states. While the Naxalites claim to fight for the rights of tribal groups and the poor, the government considers them a major internal security threat. The document examines the origins and expansion of the movement as well as the causes such as socioeconomic deprivation and lack of governance, and proposes remedies like education, employment, and social development programs.
