Atletico Madrid coach Gregorio Manzano has confirmed striker Diego Forlan is on the brink of joining Italian giants Inter Milan.
The Uruguay international is set to end his four-year stay at the Vicente Calderon by linking up with Inter following the departure of Samuel Eto'o to Anzhi Makhachkala.
Forlan was left out of the Europa League game against Vitoria Guimaraes on Thursday in order to negotiate his impending move to Inter.
And Manzano is now expecting the former Manchester United forward to put the finishing touches to the transfer 'in the next few hours'.
Manzano said: "He did not travel to Portugal in midweek and we know why.
"He is in negotiations with Inter - that is public news and everyone knows how it is going.
"It is expected that it will be resolved in the next few hours and he will stop being an Atletico player and one owned by Inter."
Atletico also lost striker Sergio Aguero this summer, the Argentina international joining Manchester City, but have snapped up Radamel Falcao from Porto to bolster their attacking ranks.
