General Characteristics of Reliance Company

The Reliance Group is a largest private-sector company in India, which has energy and material
value chain companies, founded by Dhirubhai H. Ambani. Reliance Industries Limited is a
flagship company, Fortune Global 500 and is India's largest private sector company.

Dhirubhai Ambani founded and established Reliance as a worldwide leader for the materiels
and value chain businesses as a textile firm. After a stint with A.Besse & Co. in 1957, Aden
returned to India and began to trading yarn from a 500 sq.f. Office in Masjid Bunder,
Mumbai.he set up his brand new mill in Naroda, Gujarat. In 1996, Reliance became the largest
"Only Vimal" textile brand. Reliance Textile Industries was awarded an IPO seven times in 1977.

The company became 'Just Vimal' in 1996, the largest textile brand. In 1977 a seven-fold IPO
was added for Reliance Textile Industries.

Reliance is the largest polyester yarn and fibre manufacturer in the world and one of the
world's leading five to ten producers of petrochemical main products, with global leadership in
its industries.

Beginning as a small textile business, Reliance has crossed many milestones in its journey and in
less than three decades has become a Fortune 500 company.

For six consecutive year, RIL continues to be listed as:175 based on revenues Ranked 100 based
on profit, in Fortune Global 500's list of the world's largest corporations for 2010

RIL is 68th in 2010, among the biggest companies worldwide (up from 75th in the previous
year) in the Financial Times' FT Global 500.
In the ICIS Top 100 Chemical companies ranking, RIL ranked 20th based on sales. RIL was ranked
20th. In the world's top 20 chemical companies, RIL is the only indigenous business in the
world. In terms of operating profit, RIL was also named the 8th largest gainer in the ranking.

In the CSR list of Asia's best firms, Ril is the only Indian firm to have a perfect score of Class
Asia/Pacific Markets (CLSA) that has been named as the "Corporate Good Guy" in the country.
CLSA named RIL as one of its top choices in its 2010 report on Ethical Asia for very good data
and for much further detail.

In a US Financial Publication Survey– Business Week conducted in partnership with the Boston
Consulting Group, RIL is considered the 33rd most creative company in the world (BCG).
Furthermore, in 2010, BCG ranked RIL as the second largest company to build the highest
shareholder value in the world's 10 "sustainable value producers" for the period 2000 to 2009.

Technology, Patents, R&D and Innovation:

The "Innovation Quest 2010 Trophy" was instituted by the Indian Institute for Industrial
Engineering in the Nagpur Manufacturing Division.

For its joint synthesis of advanced technology, extreme engineering, innovative implementation
and unprecedented results, E&P's KG–D6 won the 'Innovation for India Award 2010,'
established by the Marico Innovation Foundation, to influence the safety of India's power.

In 2010, the Hazira Production Division won the 2010 CII 'Innovative Project.'

The FGI Gujarat Industries Award for technology development was awarded to the Hazira
Manufacturing Division in 2010.

The Division of Production of Hazira received the Indians Chemical Council Award in 2010 for
the design and engineering of chemical plants.
'Certificate of merit' has been presented in 2010 by the Gujarat industry federation and the 'ICC
Award in Design and Engineering of Chemical Plantations Excellence' by Reliance Technology
Group (RTG).
