About our minakari

Minakari is a centuries old Persian art form that nowadays is found in many parts of Asia. The tradition is more than 5000 years old and has been spread from ancient Persia to India and other Asian countries during the Mongolian conquests. This art style is unknown to many people in the Western world. The Mongols spread Minakari East and we hope spread this beautiful art style West today.

Minakari is a technique that is used to apply beautiful intricate patterns to metals. Powdered glass is fused to a substrate. The substrate is usually a pure metal such as gold, silver or copper. By using different coloured glass powders unique and intricate patterns can be made. The patterns are applied by the artists by hand after which the works go into an oven so the glass can fuse with the metal.

The handcrafted works are each unique and take a lot of time to make. Find out which prints of Persia you prefer.
