Mumbai: Tina Ambani, wife of noted industrialist Anil Ambani, on Tuesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a case related to the alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

According to reports, Tina Ambani, a veteran actor, appeared before the officials of the Enforcement Directorate for questioning at 10 am in Mumbai.

This comes a day after Anil Ambani was questioned by the central probe agency in the case. He appeared before the ED in Mumbai at 10 am and was questioned for 8 hours.

The Ambanis were asked to appear before the probe agency on Monday, however, Tina asked for an exemption citing an unknown reason. Following this, the ED issued a summon to Tina Ambani asking her to appear before the officials later this week.

The investigation against Mukesh Ambani’s younger brother Anil and his wife pertains to their ownership of alleged undisclosed assets abroad and financial transactions linked with them.

Last year, Anil Ambani was served a show-cause notice for allegedly not paying Rs 420 crore in taxes. However, he was later granted relief as the Bombay High Court directed the Income Tax Department to not take any coercive action against him.

The 64-year-old businessman had in the year 2020 appeared before probe agency in connection with a money laundering case involving Yes Bank’s Rana Kapoor and others.

According to reports, the net worth of Dhirubhai Ambani’s younger son stands at $2.5 billion.

He owns Reliance Group which includes RCAP Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Power and other subsidiaries. Anil also owns a private jet and his residential building is valued at Rs 5,000 crore.

Anil and Tina Ambani are survived by two children – Jai Anshul Ambali and Jai Anmol Ambani.
