The upcoming Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled for July, has prompted the issuance of a comprehensive list of prohibited food items for the pilgrimage to the holy shrine. The Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board has recently released a health advisory outlining the foods that pilgrims are not allowed to consume during the journey. The prohibited items include jalebi, halwa, pooris, and chole bhature.

To cater to the dietary needs of both pilgrims and service providers, the advisory also suggests alternatives for langar organizations, shops, and stalls that provide and sell food during the yatra.

This year, it is anticipated that at least 500,000 visitors will make their way to the Amarnath cave shrine. The pilgrimage to the sacred cave of Shri Amarnathji involves trekking at elevations that can reach up to 14,000 feet.

Before embarking on the yatra, it is crucial to familiarize oneself with the list of prohibited food items, as well as the permissible items that can be carried during the pilgrimage.
