Best things to see and do

1. The beaches

As the name suggests, the resort offers up some great beaches where you'll find golden sands, swim-friendly waters and bustling promenades with heaps of restaurants, shops and bars.

2. Action Aquapark

This water park is sure to be a hit with both parents and children. There are heaps of slides, pools, lazy rivers and games for the whole family. There's also a free shuttle bus to take you direct to the water park from the hotels.

3. The nightlife

If you're looking for a fun night out on the town, Sunny Beach won't disappoint with its wide array of bars and clubs.

In fact, it's even been compared to the likes of Ibiza for those who like to laze on the beach in the day and go out at night. 

Think resident DJs, live music and heaps of pool parties.  

4. Nessebar

The Ancient City of Nessebar is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it's a must visit for history buffs or those wanting a dose of culture in their trip.

Think cobbled streets, picturesque ruins and heaps of historic landmarks such as the ruins of a 5th-century church.

5. Pomorie Roman Tombs

These Roman tombs are also sure to be a hit with history fans. The archaeological site boasts picturesque architecture and the structure has been well preserved so that you do really feel like you've stepped back in time.

6. Luna Park

Thrill-seekers may want to check out this fun amusement park where you'll find heaps of rollercoasters, arcade games and gentler rides for little ones (think a mini pirate ship!).

It's right by the seafront too so you won't have to go far whether you want to while away a few hours or make a day of it.

For example, easyJet Holidays offers some budget-friendly short breaks as well as week-long holidays with prices from £302pp.

Meanwhile, you can find TUI holidays from £258pp with a wide range of board options, or On the Beach where you can also upgrade to all-inclusive options.

Balkan Holidays is also a handy website for budget-friendly breaks to Bulgaria.
