We requested quotes from ten travel insurance companies for their most affordable plan for a trip to Dominican Republic. The below quotes are for a 30-year-old traveler from Florida, traveling to Dominican Republic for ten days in September 2024, with a total trip cost of $4,000. Policies include coverage for cancellations, interruptions, delays, medical care and evacuation.

These quotes were collected in April 2024 for a trip in September 2024.

The plans above range significantly in price. Insured Nomads offers the cheapest policy with good medical coverage ($250,000) but no baggage protection. It includes an optional benefit for adventure and water sports suitable for an active traveler.

The other plans all offer up to $500 for baggage protection. Allianz and Travel Safe also offer rental car protection as an optional add-on, this will increase the price of the policy though. All the plans offer high medical coverage in the range of $110,000 to $135,000, except for Allianz, which supplies only $60,000.

Before you buy travel insurance, you should compare quotes from different insurance companies to get the best price and coverage. Consider providers that offer more affordable plans if you are on a lower budget.
