Srimad Ramayan Brief Review: A delightful watch, young Sujay Rey as Lord Ram is impressive

We have all watched Ramayan on TV and till date – Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia are etched as the true Lord Ram and Sita maa. I have not watched any other version of Ramayan not even the Prabhas starrer Adipurush. But to my surprise I fell in love with this Srimad Ramayan being telecast on TV nowadays.

I wanted to show my seven-year-old on Lord Ram and felt it could be a good one to begin with . And trust me when I say this Ramayan is really good. Its execution of the scenes especially the war scenes with Raja Dashrath and later Ram is worth a watch.

Not a single scene looks made up. All the characters like Kaikeyi which is being played by Shilpa Agnihotri, who has made a comaback on TV after a long hiatus, is also impressive. Her dialogue delivery especially her conversations with Raja Dashrath showcase their love and respect for each other.

Choice of Actors

The real icing on the cake is Sujay Rey, the young Ram. His smile and calm make him a perfect choice for the role. And at times you do get to see a reflection of Arun Govil’s face in him too. Prachi Bansal as Sita is a good match. Her smiling face, subtle make up are something worth looking at.

And not to miss Nikitin Dheer as the new age Ravan is huge, ferocious. The arrogance on Ravan’s face when he goes to Mithila uninvited, is smitten by Sita’s beauty. The way he announces that he will lift the Pinak Dhanush with one finger of his left hand are some scenes worth talking about.

The scene that really steals the show is when Lord Ram picks the Dhanush in swayamvar and the he is shown as the avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is grand. Maa Sita says “Aaj se main Ram ki hui” are some dialogues worth talking about.

Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Swastik Productions has erected a perfect set for the show. The Pushpak vimaan looks huge unlike the one we had seen in the original Ramayan (we all are a fan of) back in 1980s. Srimad Ramayan, which in this day and age of OTT, is being only screened on Sony TV is indeed worth watching.

Overall Srimad Ramayan is a good watch. I will give 3 out of 5 stars. The show airs from Monday-Friday at 9 pm on Sony TV.
