Poetry Reading By Madras Players At Amethyst Cafe in Chennai

Dear friends,
I’m very pleased to share with you, the onset of another of my dream runs – after the launch of my first novel Across Borders in Oct 2013 - my first public Poetry Reading.
I started writing poetry around 2007 and it took eight years to be able to showcase my work to the world. But it has been well worth the wait. This event is organised by the Madras Players http://themadrasplayers.org/about-us, which celebrated its golden jubilee in 2005, and is the oldest English theatre group in India, and is hosted at my favourite garden café in Chennai - the Amethyst Café http://www.amethystchennai.com/
The Madras Players veteran actors will read 15 of my poems, along with those of the other two poets. I will be reading a few of my poems myself, as will TT. Srinath.
The Madras Players in association with Amethyst are showcasing and supporting poetry, through facilitating an evening of sharing and reading. The first of these poetry readings, an open program, inviting an audience will be held on May 29th, at The Folly, at Amethyst, on Whites Road, Chennai at 8.00 pm.
The veteran actors - Readers of the poems at the event include:

· Gayathri Krishnaswamy
· Vishalam Ekambaram
· Indrani Krishnaier
· Shuvashree Ghosh
· Tehzeeb Katari
· T.T.Srinath
· Ravi Katari
· Yog Japee
· T.M. Karthik
Two young musicians – a guitarist and flautist, will provide background music, Prashanth Srinivas G.S. and Aditya Jayaraman.

Also happy to announce that I start the show by reading one of my favourite poems and have been allowed to read five poems, though I’m the only one in the group who is not an actor.

I hereby cordially invite those of you in Chennai: Please make time to come by to listen to the Madras Players actors and thereby support us, just as they are going all out to do so.

Those on the Madras Players and Amethyst mailing lists, would have been emailed the invite, but if you were planning to skip it, please reconsider…and take me up on my personal invitation.
Look forward to seeing you!!!
Warmly,
Shuvashree
