The New Global Order is excited to launch a #CallForAbstracts for its 2024 Symposium, an international online event that aims at fostering and enriching the discussion on pressing contemporary worldly issues across every continent, focusing on taking stock of the global status of geopolitical affairs in an age of disinformation. This year, we encourage the presentation on research papers and projects on 🌡 #ClimateDiplomacy in a Multipolar World Through the symposium, we aim to create a financially accessible and high-quality space for students, young researchers and young professionals to present their original research (whether published or not) to an international audience. 📢 Scholarships are available based on merit and for students from underrepresented communities. 👉 Submit your abstract by January 22 2024 to join an international cohort of leading analysts at https://lnkd.in/dj3vPsf6!

What is the University of Cambridge Centre for Geopolitics? It's about combining historical analysis, political science, area studies and the experience of practitioners to confront major problems of conflict and world order, past, present and future. We see it as valuable work with practical, real-world impact. How we do that, who we are, and who we work with is explained here in our latest Annual Report, just published.

I am glad to have been assigned to the Working Group 4 ("WG4: Outreach: cross-fertilization between research and policy") of COST Association - European Cooperation in Science and Technology - CA22121 - Rising nationalisms, shifting geopolitics and the future of European higher education/research openness (OPEN). I am looking forward to exploring how the rise of new nationalisms and geopolitical tensions exert a growing pressure on the openness of European higher education and research and examine its implications for the future of Europe. #europeanunion #neonationalism #geopolitics #highereducation #research #cost https://lnkd.in/et6a67n3

I strongly believe in my students at Colorado Mountain College. I feel a mutual synergy of admiration, commitment, and inspiration between me and my students. I am thankful to this institution and to Dr. Norma Guzman Duran, Ed.D.. for giving me the opportunity and trust in me to support its mission in the mountain towns of Colorado and to transfer knowledge beyond. I feel proud, fulfilled, and extremely inspired because the final project of 3 of my students in my Environmental Economics class and Principles of Microeconomics class got published at the proceedings of the FMOS 2023 Conference. The FMOS conference stands for: “At the crossroad of Finance, Marketing, and Operations for Sustainable Business”. This conference was hosted by the American Institute of Applied Sciences in Switzerland. While I was part of the scientific committee of this conference, I wasn’t part of the selection process of my students in this conference/proceeding publication. I just served as a bridge between my students and this conference. I want to share with my LI network 10 takeaways that I learned in the process of supporting my students to succeed in this valuable opportunity: 1. Take your breaks as you need: Take it easy, it’s ok to feel down once in a while. 2. Be the professor you wish you had in every class. 3. Listen to you: Your ideas, your mind, and to your health. 4. Keep growing, inspiring, and transferring knowledge. 5. Sometimes it will be your turn to be at the podium, other times you will be encouraging new researchers. 6. Enjoy teaching, the rest will come by itself. 7. Give the extra mile even when you are not required to. 8. Be thankful for your employer and the institutions that brought you here: family, school, scholarship system, and hard work. 9. Sometimes you will be the only one cheering you up in hard moments. 10. Follow your dreams and inspire, help, and encourage others to follow theirs. Unfortunately, I couldn’t submit an abstract myself this time due to personal reasons and time constraints due to research activities on top of teaching 5 different classes, and preparing the curriculum for a Data Analytics certificate; however, I served as the chair of the Environmental Protection Session of the FMOS, thanks for the opportunity to participate in this important event. #business #work #opportunity #dataanalytics #FMOS2023 #environmentaleconoics #microeconomics

Today I'm at the Open Science Symposium by Vetenskap & Allmänhet, VA at Naturhistoriska riksmuseet. Interesting discussions on how scientists and policy makers can approach each other for evidence based policy! Scientists are expected to be experts on research, teaching, communications ...! Maybe some can be all of this and maybe some are better suited to focus on research and could benefit from support from communications professionals. Scientists and Policy makers don't always understand each other, they speak different "languages". So how do we solve this problem? How about the main governmental funding bodies fund a few professional "knowledge brokers" who can facilitate interactions between scientists and policy makers. People with a background in science and a decent understanding of the policy making process and a large network so that they can connect people. Perhaps they could be part of the university research support office. #EU2023 #openscience #sciencepolicy #sciencecommunication

🔬🌍 From November 6th to November 12th, we celebrate the International Week of Science and Peace, highlighting the essential function that science and technology play in creating a world that is safer and more sustainable. 🕊️🧪 As reported by UNESCO, every dollar invested in scientific research and research and development (R&D) yields a $20 return on economic growth. Global spending on R&D has reached an all-time high, approaching the incredible sum of $1.7 trillion. Notably, only ten countries contribute almost 80% of this enormous investment. 🤝🌐 Is your country investing in scientific research? #ScienceAndPeace #InnovationForGood #InternationalWeekOfScienceAndPeace
