Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has expressed opposition to the proposed blocking of SIM cards belonging to over 500,000 tax non-filers. In a letter addressed to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the PTA argued that such an action would not align with their system. They highlighted that many mobile SIMs are registered under men's names but are used by women, and emphasized that no restrictions have been placed on issuing new SIMs to non-filers. Additionally, the PTA raised concerns about the procedure for reinstating SIM cards for individuals who become compliant with tax regulations. They clarified that there is no legal obligation for them to block SIMs and that doing so could negatively impact digitalization and the telecom economy. Instead of blocking SIMs, the PTA suggested that the FBR explore alternative options within the boundaries of the law. FPSC has announced the results for the CSS 2023 exams, with a passing rate of 2.96%. Out of 13,008 candidates who appeared for the written exams, only 401 passed. A total of 210 candidates have been recommended for appointment, comprising 126 male and 84 female candidates. Adil Riaz secured the first position, followed by Shehrbano in second place and Okasha Abrar in third. Detailed marks sheets will be available on the FPSC website soon.
