𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Gold is usually found in low concentration in the form of ore which is mined. Gold should be separated from other minerals present in the ore. As gold is insoluble, it should be separated from other minerals to make it soluble. Hence, sodium cyanide can be added, where cyanide ions form a complex ion with the molecules of gold. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙨 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙬: ✅The ore is grounded and crushed. If the ore containing the gold has other forms of metals or any kind of sulphide minerals then it requires additional treatments before going through the process of leaching. The gold is mixed with the sodium cyanide which leads to the following Elsener’s equation and reaction. This is done to make soluble gold ✅Now the gold is soluble. This method of making soluble gold is known as leaching. In the process of leaching, a dilute form of sodium cyanide is added into the ore containing the gold. Since gold is soluble after the leaching process, it is free to move through the membrane while the rest of ore cannot pass through the membrane. Lime is added to sodium cyanide to make the pH in between 10-11 to favour the reactants and bring them to equilibrium. ✅The slurry formed is treated with activated zinc or carbon for the extraction of gold. We have confirmed significant zinc mineralisation within the Mineral Resource at our Oropesa Tin Project in Spain. Zinc mineralisation was identified in 282 historic drillholes located within and around the tin Mineral Resource wireframe areas. The results include both high-grade zinc zones and larger zones of lower grade zinc mineralisation. Notable high-grade zinc zones include 4.25m at 41.8% Zn from 48.25m in ORPD-178, 16.2m at 8.89% Zn from 171.8m in ORPD-188, 12.2m at 8.81% Zn from 200.6m in SGT-04, and 3.0m at 7.85% Zn from 110.1m in OPRD-176BIS. We conducted zinc metallurgical test work, which confirmed the potential to develop an additional incremental and low-cost by-product zinc concentrate with over 40% Zn content and 50-75% Zn recovery from zinc feed with average grades of approximately 0.5% Zn. Ore sorting test work at TOMRA laboratories also demonstrated an average upgrade of over 28% in zinc ore feed grades when processed with cassiterite. We now conducting additional modelling on the Oropesa's zinc mineralisation to determine the potential for a maiden Zinc Mineral Resource, and this is expected to be confirmed during the second half of CY2023. Tin remains the primary focus at our Oropesa Project; zinc will be considered as a by-product concentrate subject to further confirmatory works. More good news from our Arthrath Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Sulphide Project in North East Scotland. 👍 HEADLINE: First modern mineralogy testwork results confirm all nickel, copper and cobalt occur in mineral forms readily amenable to conventional flotation processing. EXPLAINER: An early risk in nickel sulphide projects is the deportment of non-recoverable nickel in silicate minerals (mostly olivine) or as solid solution within the mineral pyrrhotite. Neither of these issues occur within the Arthrath samples. Results from two composite samples from Arthrath drill core show that: - 98% of nickel & 100% of cobalt occur in the sulphide mineral pentlandite - 100% of copper occurs in the sulphide mineral chalcopyrite These are sulphide mineral forms known to be readily amenable to concentration by conventional froth flotation.
