“What if, beyond providing entertainment, the arts were a social prescription to health, empathy, and healing?” Art can’t heal people if it can’t reach them.     Engaging in art allows people to participate in self-expression, find social connections, and improve community health. However, across the country, many lack access to art programs due to factors like pricing and location. Investing in arts and culture programs is key to making their benefits more accessible.    With ample funding, these programs can be a catalyst to changing the social health of local communities. Artists can spread joy through their crafts, residents can build bonds within their neighborhoods, and people can find new ways to heal and connect with the world around them. #Artiscommunity https://lnkd.in/gmZdsZsw

TODAY IS THE DAY! To say I am 'stoked' to begin delivering 'Extending Reach, Deepening Engagement' today is a massive understatement. Funded by Arts Council Wales, the programme invites 16 arts leaders over 7 seminars to reflect on and re-vision their community engagement practice ... and in a way that will fundamentally rewire their relationship with the people and communities they serve. Designed as a feast of ideas, a depth charge, and a perspective-altering experience, we will be delving into : - living systems and reciprocity - public value, social capital and common wealth - power and privilege - designing for belonging - relevance - mental models and world views and so much more.
