On the 26 and 27 of January 2023, ITF - International Transport Forum hosted the Roundtable on "#artificialintelligence , #machinelearning and #Regulation". I had the great privilege to organise it as the project manager of the Roundtable. This Roundtable focused on developing a common understanding and principles on key issues of AI-trained #automated #transport systems, including how to acquire and use data for training, how to verify, validate and certify the system and institutional set-ups to support the safe use of AI-trained automated systems. It also discussed how regulating AI for vehicles aligns with broader AI regulation pathways and where it may be different. The Roundtable was opened by Young Tae KIM, Secretary-General of the ITF and Stefan Schnorr, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. The Roundtable gathered around 32 participants and 20 observers from a wide range of countries, including representatives from national and regional governments, research organisations, academia and industries. The discussion was very active, informative and insightful. The presentations will soon be uploaded on the ITF webpage, and the summary and conclusion report will be followed later. I'd like to express my gratitude to my ITF colleagues, chair Markus Reinhardt and #DZSF team, as well as all of the participants, for making this Roundtable such a success. Thank you so much.
