The most prominent geological features are the table top mountains known as tepuis.

This image shows our main port and market area with a commercial ship commuting the astonishing Demerara River set as the backdrop. The Stabroek Market is the largest market in Georgetown, Guyana. Located in the center of the capital city, the market is housed in an iron and steel structure with a prominent and Iconic clock tower designed by an American engineer Nathaniel McKay, and constructed by the Edgemoor Iron Company of Delaware, USA over the period 1880-1881.
