Telugu child actor-turned-director Surya Kiran, who helmed films like 'Satyam' and 'Dhana 51', died in his Chennai home on March 11. He was 48.

As per reports, Surya died due to jaundice on Monday. He was undergoing treatment at Chennai's GEM hospital.

Kiran made his debut in the film industry as a child actor and worked in over 200 films, including 'Mauna Geethangal' and 'Padukathavan'. Surya made his directorial debut in 2003 with the film 'Satyam'. The film featured Sumanth Akkineni and Genelia D'Souza in lead roles.

'Satyam' gave him instant fame and success. In 2005, he made 'Dhana 51' with Sumanth. He also directed films like 'Brahmastram' (2006), 'Raju Bhai' (2007) and 'Chapter 6' (2010).

Apart from this, Suresh was also among the participants in the Telugu reality TV show 'Bigg Boss 4'. Interestingly, he was the first contestant to get eliminated.

Surya Kiran was married to actor Kalyani (Kaveri) before they divorced a few years later. His younger sister, Sujatha Dhanush, is also an actor working predominantly in the South film industry.

After his divorce from Kalyani, he withdrew from social engagements and remained out of the public eye until his appearance on 'Bigg Boss 4'. Recently, he reinitiated his film career and discussed it in a YouTube interview. He mentioned collaborating with comedian and actor Saptagiri and said that their film would go on floors soon.

His latest film, titled 'Arasi' featuring Varalaxmi Sarathkumar will be releasing in theatres soon.
