The Kerala Story is unstoppable at the box office! Directed by Sudipto Sen, the movie is one of the highest grossing films of this year, so far. Starring Adah Sharma in a pivotal role, TKS released in cinemas on May 5, 2023. Even before the film hit the big screen, The Kerala Story was mired in controversy. Post its release, the movie was even banned in some Indian states. However, the project, backed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, performed well at the box office.
Amid this, Kamal Haasan has reacted to the controversy surrounding The Kerala Story. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Haasan shared his take on the matter.
KAMAL HAASAN ON THE KERALA STORY CONTROVERSY
The Kerala Story has been at the receiving end of criticism from a certain set of audience. Bans and controversies have surrounded the film for a while now. Reacting to The Kerala Story controversy, Kamal Haasan told India Today, "I told you, I am against propaganda films. It is not enough if you write 'true story' at the bottom as the logo. It has to be really true. And that is not true."

ADAH SHARMA ON THE KERALA STORY SUCCESS
Meanwhile, The Kerala Story's lead actress Adah Sharma is overwhelmed with the success of her film. After the movie entered Rs 200 crore club, she took to her Instagram handle and penned, "1st Female Film to cross net collection India 200 Cr, without Tamil Nadu & West Bengal. "The best things in life are Unexpected - because there were no expectations. Thank you audience for making this happen. The makers of #TheKeralaStory : Vipul sir who took a huge risk in making this film without any backing from studios and for trusting the girl who played Bhavana Reddy in Commando to be Shalini Unnikrishnan (sic)."
She further penned, "Sudipto sir for standing by his research for 7 years despite all odds , for being kind to all of us on set and who kept up his pleasant nature in all weather conditions and trials and tribulations (sic)."
The Kerala Story also featured Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani.
