Kamal Haasan begins prep for Indian 2 in USA, shoot to resume in September

Kamal Haasan is set to resume work on the much-delayed Indian 2. The National Award-winner has left for the US to begin preparations for the film’s shoot. According to reports, he will be there for three weeks. Indian 2, which has been on hold since 2020, is expected to resume in September. Indian 2 is a vigilante action thriller, directed by Shankar.

Kamal Haasan was last seen in director Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram. Now, it has been reported that he will resume work on Indian 2.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to Twitter and wrote that the Vishwaroopam actor has already flown to the US to start his preparations for Indian 2. He is expected to return after three weeks. The film is slated to resume shooting in September.

ROCKY ROAD SO FAR
‘Director Shankar’s latest magnum opus Indian 2 was first announced on the Kamal Haasan-hosted Bigg Boss Tamil in 2017. Its shoot was delayed on several occasions as Haasan and the maverick filmmaker were busy with Vishwaroopam 2 and the Rajinikanth-led 2.0, respectively. Indian 2 eventually went on the floors in January 2019.
In 2020, Indian 2's shoot was halted after three assistant directors were killed in a crane accident on the film’s sets. It was further delayed following the COVID-19 lockdown.
ABOUT INDIAN 2
Indian 2, a sequel to the 1996 classic of the same name, features Kamal Haasan in the role of an aged vigilante who wages a war against corruption. The film, like the first part, is likely to have a strong message against corruption. Indian 2 stars Kajal Aggarwal as the leading lady and marks her first collaboration with Ulaganayagan. The cast includes Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Siddharth.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR KAMAL HAASAN AFTER INDIAN 2?
Kamal Haasan, who suffered a major setback with Viswaroopam 2, bounced back with the blockbuster Vikram, which was released in theatres this June. The film is a part of the Loki Cinematic Universe (LCU), which started with the Karthi-led Kaithi (2019). A sequel to Vikram, with Haasan as the hero and Suriya as the villain, is said to be in the works.
