Even as pacer Sreeshanth got bail in IPL spot fixing scam , AP has recorded seventh suicide in IPL cricket betting . Bhagyaraj , 25 year old engineering student from low middle class family of Devarakonda in Nalgonda district hanged himself in his friends room yesterday following his loss of Rs.2.5 lakhs in IPL betting . In a suicide note he had named his six friends who had lent him money and pressurized him to return amount immediately driving him to drastic step .
Even as IPL spot fixing scam hit the ceiling AP police had recorded suicides by six others including a house wife in Hyderabad, two bank employees , two students and a Government employee who had committed suicides after huge losses in IPL cricket betting.
Police say the cricket scam had touched a new high in view of the 1:15 ratio of returns ( better than matka and Call money racket )offered by bookies who made huge profits by with spot fixing on each ball , each match and each player . ' IPL may be a Rs.5000 crore league, but IPL betting is 20,000 crore racket ' said a police official investigating scam . AP police had arrested 135 persons and seized Rs.3 crore in 11 towns including Hyd in IPL betting rackets this year .
