This rule sees teams kick off with a starting 13, whittling it down to the playing 11 who are revealed during the toss.

Those extra players, however, may be substituted at several points in the game as the “Impact Player” (who has the ability to both bat and bowl) including at the start of innings, the end of an over, or the fall of a wicket. Replaced players are then barred from re-entering the field.
