Your wedding lehenga is a special outfit that you will remember for the rest of your life. Not only will you have several photos taken in it, you will also tie the knot with your partner in it, making it all the more memorable. While choosing the lehenga, it is important to keep the fabric in mind as that determines how the lehenga sits on your body and also how much it weighs. Here are some tips to choose the right one for your wedding.
Georgette or chiffon
A common but graceful fabric for lehengas, both georgette and chiffon look wonderful on a bride. The good thing is, these fabrics suit a woman of any frame so you can be assured to look flattering on your special day. Choose intricate work if you have a fuller frame, and large embroidery if you have a petite figure for the desired effect.
Velvet

This fabric adds a royal touch to any outfit and is fitting for a bridal lehenga. Velvet works well for a winter wedding as it is thick and looks good when there is a slight nip in the air. The good thing with this fabric is that your lehenga can look gorgeous even with minimal work on it as it is a rich material. Choose deep reds, maroons or even hues of blue and green for the wedding.
Silk

If your dream lehenga is something classy and subtle, then opt for silk fabric which is elegant and at the same time lends a traditional touch to any outfit. Depending on how grand or soft you want it to look, choose one with work all over or just a thick border. There are several varieties of silk available so pick something that appeals to you the most. You can pick a blouse that has heavy work so that the outfit does not look too simple for the wedding.
Brocade
If you prefer something traditional and vibrant, a brocade lehenga is your answer. While brocade saris and blouses are common, a brocade lehenga is also getting a lot of attention for the rich look it adds to any outfit. The gold work looks good on several hues so you can stick to traditional bridal colours of reds, or opt for pastels and offbeat ones like blacks and blues too.
Net or lace

While net is more commonly used than lace when it comes to wedding lehengas, both are light fabrics and are perfect for brides who don’t want to don heavy lehengas. You can make the attire look elaborate with intricate embroidery and embellishments on it. This is perfect for those who are plump as it will fit well and not add more volume to your frame.
