The Qwest Actiontech M1000 1-Port wired router is the first modular DSL modem and router for residential networks. Save the money you are currently paying your ISP for equipment rental with this modem and router to provide a reliable Internet connection for your computer and mobile devices. Use the static IP address and default settings for basic features, or increase the capabilities of this base model with optional extensions and accessories. These routers provide an affordable base unit for cable broadband service offering quality hardware and software that can be expanded with a wide variety of extensions and upgrade options. You have the option of using the base DSL modem for your computer or upgrading with modular snap-on extensions for wireless Internet, phone, and more. This Actiontech DSL modem and router features a one-port Ethernet connection and USB ADSL2+ modem featuring integrated wired networking. The connection types include USB cable, network cable, and phone cable. These modems offer an ADSL loop reach of 18,000 feet and ADSL2 loop reach of 18,600 feet. This model supports pass through for IPSec, PPTP, and L2TP Virtual Private Networking (VPN) protocols. The routing protocol includes RIP 1, RIP 2, and static routing. This model has a data transfer rate of 24 Mbps. The Actiontech M1000 DSL router modem offers a range of advanced security features for a reliable and secure wireless connection. This model features a firewall, Network Address Translations (NAT), Stateful Packet Inspection, website blocking, DOS protection, and Internet traffic logging to keep your Internet connection secure and your private information protected. You can search for several modular add-ons that can be purchased separately and snapped directly to the base of the Actiontech modem to expand your network. Some of the options include a Home Plug AV adapter, a wireless expansion module, and a 4-Port Ethernet switch to grow your network connectivity. If you want to add phone service to your network, you can purchase a separate Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) adapter for this modem. Qwest Actiontec M1000 DSL modem setup is easy using the web-based interface and router IP address. This model is compatible with several different operating systems for Mac and PCs. The compatible operating systems include Microsoft Windows 98, SE, 2000, ME, XP, Microsoft Windows Vista, Apple MacOS 9.0 or later, Linux, BSD/OS, and UNIX.     We have been using this model for about 10 years and we have replace it probably 4 times.

    If you can get a new one even if old stock they are a great buy. If used, probably bad!

    Great value for the money but only worked for a few months.

    This worked well for a few months, and then stopped working. Luckily I had my original router that I've had for years that I was able to put the wireless connection on to and after a few hours and countless tries of getting it to work it worked again. I wouldn't recommend buying a used router from someone else, buy it new from the company so you know where it came from.

    Older product, didn't work for me.

    This modem didn't work for me. The CD wasn't compatable with Windows 7 and when I went to the Actiontec website to configure for PPPoe, it didn't work.
