Netflix has renewed the sci-fi adventure series Lost in Space for a third and final season.
On Monday (March 9), the show's official Twitter account shared an announcement video, confirming that a third part would bring the Robinson family's space journey to its conclusion.
This was posted alongside a message from producer and showrunner Zack Estrin, who has now signed a multi-year deal to produce new and exclusive series for Netflix.
"From the beginning, we've always viewed this particular story of the Robinsons as a trilogy," he said. "A three-part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle and end.
"It's also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode, if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission – it's Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr Smith... and The Robot. And, of course, Debbie the Chicken."
He went on: "So while this chapter of Lost in Space is coming to a rousing conclusion, I'm excited about continuing to explore new stories with my friends at Netflix, and for all of the incredible possibilities that lie ahead."

On the announcement of the third season, Netflix's Director of Original Series Ted Biaselli said: "We are so thrilled to share more adventures of the Robinson family and see their journey through to what is sure to be an epic finale.
"We're especially thankful to Zack Estrin, Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, Kevin Burns and Jon Jashni for helming Lost in Space, which has brought viewers a premium action-packed and visually spectacular series that the whole family can enjoy together, and we can't wait for our family audiences to see where season three will lead!"
Lost in Space is a retelling of the 1960s sci-fi classic, in which the Robinson family are one of those selected to inhabit a new world.
However, after things go wrong and they're knocked off course, they end up crash landing on an alien planet where they must work together to survive.
Lost in Space season 3 arrives on Netflix in 2021. Seasons one and two are available to stream on the service.
