First and foremost, let’s talk about food! As the birthplace of paella, Valencia couldn’t be anything but a culinary paradise for food enthusiasts. A trip to the Region of Valencia will offer you exquisite dishes that celebrate fresh local ingredients.

Paella

The number 1 dish everyone wants to try when they visit Spain is paella! It’s without a doubt one of the most famous Spanish dishes, but many people don’t know that it originated in Valencia. Enjoy the true taste of Spain as you dig into a dish of traditional paella. Made with saffron-infused rice, meat or seafood, and aromatic spices, this iconic dish is a perfect reflection of the Region of Valencia’s gastronomic heritage.

Our second recommendation is a refreshing glass of horchata, a very typical Valencian drink made from tiger nuts. This is the perfect drink to cool down from the heat of the Mediterranean sun. Locals dip fartons, a finger-shaped sweet pastry, into this drink. It’s a typical breakfast or mid afternoon snack in the Region of Valencia. Why don’t you give it a try?
