Chinese New Year Firecrackers

Decorating for the New Year With Paper Firecrackers

Chinese New Year Firecrackers

PoP! Boom! Bang! These are all happy sounds and noises that bring joy and cheer to the festivities.

Chinese New Year Firecrackers blast and explode day and night and are another "must" of any Chinese celebration.

They are lit in front of houses and stores so that the evil spirits are scared away from the loud cracking noises.

Firecrackers are also lit on the streets during parades and lion dances.

Children look forward to the sparkling blasts and this is one of many Chinese traditions that are still practiced all over China and by Chinese around the world.

Firecrackers made out of bright shiny paper are often used as decorations to add to the lively atmosphere of the festivities.

During the major holidays you will see them hanging alongside door entrances at homes, by the trees at the parks, decorating lobbys at hotels, shopping centers and restaurants.

And of course in the traditional red and gold colors for good luck and wealth...
