Kamal Haasan is one of the most famous actors in the Indian cinema. He has worked predominantly in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, along with making certain notable contributions to Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada and Bengali regional film industries. However, apart from his professional world, Kamal often grabs limelight for his personal life. For the unversed, Kamal was first married to classical dancer, Vani Ganapathy in 1978. After their split in 1988, the actor went on to marry his frequent co-star, Sarika. Moreover, he was also in a relationship with Gautami Tadimalla, after he divorced Sarika in 2004. And now, Kamal Haasan’s first wife, Vani Ganapathy makes some startling revelations about the actor and their marital relationship.
For the unversed, Kamal Haasan and Vani Ganapathy chose to stay mum about their divorce, as they ended things on an amicable note. But things turned bitter when, in 2015, Kamal Haasan highlighted that his divorce with Vani pushed him to the brink of monetary and financial ruin. And in an interaction with Deccan Chronicle, Vani cleared her stance on the same and mentioned:
“He even declined to provide me with used appliances from our shared flat. What should I have expected from a man like that? In what legal system in the world has alimony ever driven someone to bankruptcy? I was completely taken aback when I read that. Perhaps his ego was wounded when I ended the marriage, but so much has transpired since then. He could have simply mentioned a financial crisis and moved on from the topic.”

Speaking more along the same lines, Vani expressed that the revelations made by her ex-husband, after so many years of their divorce, simply indicate his inability to move on from their spilt, which happened 28 years ago. Calling Kamal as a man consumed by his own obsession, Vani reacted:
“For 28 years, we have been divorced. I have always refrained from engaging in public disputes because it’s a deeply personal matter, but we have both moved forward in our lives. Why does he continue to act like a man consumed by obsession?”
Concluding her statement, Vani Ganapathy tagged her ex-husband, Kamal Haasan as a man of feigning smile and charming personality, which enables him to escape all moments where he is to be blamed and answerable, with a pleasing smile. Bashing her ex-husband’s actions, Vani concluded:
“He won’t answer a question if he doesn’t want to. Kamal is a master at feigning a smile and using his charm to avoid topics. He can converse on virtually any subject, even if he’s only read the first and last pages of a book. That’s why I understand that it’s futile to try to extract something from him. If he doesn’t wish to discuss it, he knows exactly how to handle the situation.”

In one of his previous interactions with Simi Garewal, Kamal Haasan had spoken about his personal life and it being full of tragic fates. The actor mentioned that things were rough in his marriage, and it barred him from staying happy. Moreover, he revealed that it was at that time, he came close to his second wife, Sarika Thakur.
