Le Corbusier’s City of Chandigarh

Le Corbusier’s City of Chandigarh

In 2009 I made a train trip north of Delhi to visit Le Corbusier’s famed city of Chandigarh- one of the few built examples of modernist city planning and architecture on the scale of an entire city. The city is spectacular- an orgiastic display of Corbusier’s architectural prowess from the block layouts, and street configuration, to the design of individual buildings, details, even manhole covers.
