It's more of a PR stunt than an Autobiography. Such books fails writing as well as the writer. Am not surprised this book got bad reviews, wish I would have read them in advance..
The book jumps between different times without clarity

There are lot of positives and negatives in every human being, so is Mrs. Gandhi. After finishing the book I felt that the positives that she stood for, and the very idea of India she was protecting like a mother was the most positive aspect of her life. I think she took the responsibility to her own shoulders.
Coming back to the review: The book has paid attention to including lot of details. But it had left out some of her achievements in establishing R&AW, and the nuclear program, and how she was trying to keep Pakistan away from nukes. The author could have avoided using "three dots" in many places, which is a bit annoying at times.
Even though I was thinking that Emergency was the wrong idea to the problem at hand, I now think that it can be completely justified as I learned that Mr. Morarji Desai won Pakistan's highest honor Nishaan-e-Pakistan in 1990. The answer to the question made me think that Indira was right when she thought that foreign hands were involved in destabilizing India.
Another thing I learned about Mrs. Gandhi is that she did walk the talk at many important junctures of her life. I cannot imagine any leader being so brave to keep her Sikh body guards after Blue Star, against IB's advice. She proved that she was secular with her life. I don't have that kind of courage, so are many of our leaders today.
