Today's program is an encore episode; revisiting our December 2023 special on the Cocos Islands: 

  • It's not often the police greet you when you arrive at an Australian airport, but that's how it is on one of Australia's most remote territories - Cocos (Keeling) islands. The closest capital city is Jakarta in Indonesia, but yet the coral atoll is part of Australia. And it is Cocos location - close to the Sunda Strait - that makes it a strategic defence location for Australia. Law and order on the islands is looked after by the federal police.
