Mahindra Bolero Pros And Cons - The Best Budget 7-Seater UV?

If it is one UV that has been in the market for over two decades, (yes, that's right) then it is none other than the Mahindra Bolero. The workhorse for the Indian carmaker is widely popular in the rural and semi-urban areas but is that one which is keeping it alive? In this article, we bring you the pros and cons of the Mahindra Bolero!

Pros

Easy Maintenance

Mahindra Bolero Pros Cons Image

There is a handful of UVs in the Indian carmaker that offers easy maintenance as the Bolero. The workhorse is easy to keep up and goes strongly even after 2 lakh km in some cases. It is this reason why we see it on the village roads.

Torqy engine

Currently, the Bolero is powered by a 1.5-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder diesel unit that generates 75 bhp at 3600 RPM and peak torque of 210 Nm from as low as 210 Nm. A good torque from lower RPMs helps in identifying how much power it is getting. You will see most campers and commercial vehicles using Bolero because it satisfies the need of the driver.

Good Mileage

Apart from greater torque at lower RPMs, the Bolero also delivers 16.7 kmpl of ARAI certified mileage. For longer journeys, this mileage is more than enough when you have to load up the cargo to the brim.

Price

The base variant of the Bolero, B4, is priced at Rs 8.16 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The mid-spec, B6 comes at Rs 8.87 lakh and the top-spec B6(O) gets a sticker price of Rs 9.15 lakh. A 7-seater with the right engine output, mileage and a go-to anywhere attitude just under Rs 10 lakh mark is what the Bolero promises.

Cons

Poor NVH Levels

Even though the BS6 engine is refined but the noise, vibration and harshness levels are not that great. At higher speeds, you will hear the engine noise, tyre noise and everything else in the cabin which does not gives you a smoother ride.

Dated Styling

Even though Bolero appeals to some as it brings in more than what it offers attitude, the styling of the SUV is dated. It has continued with a similar design which was on the offer 20 years ago and it is selling the same design ever since.
