Growing: Grows in dry, arid soils at both low and high elevations. It does best in full sun and can grow in most places as long as the soil has good drainage.
Edibility: The leaves and flowering heads were traditionally used as a flavoring for sauces and gravies.
Medicinal uses: Topically used for it’s anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Internally used as a digestive bitter and to stimulate delayed menses. Also has deworming and anti-parasitic properties.
Permaculture Uses: Good aromatic pest confuser and can be planted in dry, rocky soils where not much else will grow.
