Getting to gateway of India from the airport

I had a layover in Mumbai and the best way to use my limited time, I thought, was to go see the famous gateway of India. here’s how I planned my journey there from the airport: I wanted to travel like a local so I first went to the nearest metro station from the airport and got off at Andheri station. from there, I hopped on the rail to church gate station. from there found shared cabs that took me to my final destination which was the gateway of India. you can also see the majestic Taj Mahal palace while you are there. to return, I just took a cab directly from there to the airport.
