Preetika Rao: I don’t repent refusing Aashiqui 2

Is Lucknow going to be lucky for PreetikaRao? The actress announced that she had received a plum Bollywood film offer while in the city.
Comparisons with Amrita are natural The doe-eyed beauty has long been out of her elder sister Amrita Rao’s shadow. But she welcomes all comparisons with the Bollywood actress. “Comparisons are bound to be made. In fact, if they are not made I would feel there is something wrong and why there aren’t any being made! Amrita is a wonderful and popular actor and any comparison with her is a matter of pride for me,” says Preetika.

A believer in destiny, Preetika, who has already acted in a few movies down South, says her entry into the world of acting was sheer luck. “I was pursuing a course in advertising and journalism when I started getting modelling offers. That led to movie offers from down South. There was a time when I was getting behtareen offers from Bollywood, but I guess I was not serious about acting then, and I chose to do a course in Screenplay Writing from the New York Film Academy. When I came back, I was flooded with TV offers from big production houses.”
I was approached for Aashiqui 2 Having made a successful debut on TV with Beinteha, Preetika in enjoying her popularity. But it hasn’t come without a price, as she had to turn down the offer to star as the lead in Aashiqui 2, which ultimately made a star of actor Shraddha Kapoor.
However, Preetika says she had to stand by her commitment made to her TV show. “I don’t repent refusing Aashiqui 2 because, I had made a commitment to the producers of the show. Leaving it in between just for the sake of making a Bollywood debut would not have been ethical,” says she adding, “I keep getting offers from Bollywood but I will only start thinking about them seriously when I am not working in Beintehaa. Apart from that, the small screen is so powerful today that it is providing better exposure to actors than Bollywood. A lot of actors from Bollywood are moving to TV. Besides, the love I have been given specially by teenagers who don’t even watch daily soaps, it is more than I could ask for.”
Reality Shows Are A Strict No For Me Basically a private person, Preetika says she is not ready to bare all her emotions before the audeince in a reality show. “I am not the kind of a person who can afford to do a reality show. I have always said that actors who do reality shows, it’s good for them because they have the guts to take on challenges and test themselves. I love acting in serials but I know myself very well and I know that I can’t dare to test myself in the name of participating in a reality show. I have a blog and I love writing. Apart from that I used to really enjoy modelling because as a model you get so much of luxuries. You shoot at beautiful locations, you get to wear beautiful dresses and it makes your life luxurious too,” says the pretty actor.
