If you have just three days in Goa, here’s what to do
So you have finally made it to Goa! It is that one destination which seems to always be so close yet so far. Goa is, without a doubt, one of the most sought after destinations, and rightly so. There is no dearth of things to do and places to visit in Goa. But, what if you only had three days to spend in Goa? Before you go into a panic mode, take a look at this list of experiences you can have when in Goa for a short break.

Day 1: Panjim
Start early. You can call Panjim, the capital city of Goa, the hub. If you are expecting Panjim to be a laidback destination, don’t. Panjim is a busy city and sometimes chaotic. But, in that chaos also lies attractions such as the gorgeous and serene Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church from 1619. We suggest you kickstart your day with this one.

Reis Magos
Do the 25 minute ride to Reis Magos Fort in Bardez, on the banks of Mandovi River. The fort, constructed in 1551, was a Portuguese fort for a short while before it was used as a prison for quite some time. You can go look at the old canon that’s still kept aimed at the Arabian Sea. That's how they kept the enemies away, for as long as they did! There’s a small souvenir shop from where you can purchase Mario Miranda souvenirs.

Fontainhas
Keep your evening free to explore the old and famous Latin quarters of Fontainhas. You want to do this at leisure because everywhere you look, you will see artsy and cultural stuff. And you can’t rush art and culture! When in Fontainhas, you walk. The lovely old and colourful Portuguese villas are very photogenic. End your day with a nice dinner at one of the cool cafes in the area.

Day 2: Anjuna Beach
If you are in Goa on a Wednesday, head to Anjuna Beach for their weekly flea market. Sounds very touristy and it is, but who knows, you may end up finding something cool at the flea market. Look around for traditional Goan stalls. You may walk away with some unique souvenirs. The market is open from 8 AM to 12 PM.

Chapora Fort
Chapora Fort is located just a short distance away from Anjuna Beach. A quick eight-minute ride should bring you to the fort. This fort is also known as Dil Chahta Hain Fort for, you guessed it right, the iconic scene with Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna lazing around the fort.

Divar Island
Your Goa trip is incomplete without a trip to one of the many islands in the state. We pick Divar Island as it comes with a wholesome experience. The island used to be an important Hindu pilgrimage site before the arrival of the Portuguese. When the Portuguese came, the people moved the temple to a new place. Now, if you visit Divar Island, you will get to see dense forest in the middle of nowhere. Divar is accessible only via ferry. You can take your car on the boat.

Day 3: Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa
This UNESCO World Heritage site is a must-visit. Basilica of Bom Jesus was built in 1605 AD and it is the final resting place of St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa. If old remains aren’t your cup of tea, visit the place anyway for the gorgeous Baroque architecture. It is one of its kind in India.

Visit spice plantation in Ponda
A quick drive to Ponda to experience Goa’s famous spice plantations sounds like a great way to spend your afternoon (also lunch). There are plenty of spice plantations to choose from but we suggest you go for Savoy Spice Plantation. You can bring back essential oils and all kinds of spices. Here, you will get to experience the best of traditional Goan cuisine. It stays open only until 4 PM so high time you set out for your last experience of your stay in Goa.

Explore South Goa
South Goa, or as we like to call it, the Quieter Goa, is meant for those who want to take a quick rest from the busy North Goan life. Here, the beaches are cleaner and less crowded. Some of the beaches here, including Mobor Beach, Palolem Beach, Varca Beach, Cavelossim Beach and Agonda Beach are perfect for those who just want to experience a quiet time by the beach.
