Pangot in Uttarakhand is a wonderful choice for travellers who thrive on good energy that the mountains have to offer. Pangot is located only 13 km from Nainital and hence, is often visited by tourists who intend a day-long adventure and bird-watching trip near an otherwise crowded Nainital.

Pangot is nature at its best. It is an ideal destination for bird-watching and for spotting lammergeiers, blue-winged Himalayan griffon, woodpeckers, khalij pheasants and so on. The presence of exciting hiking trails in the region interests a lot of adventure lovers. One of the most prominent trails is from Pangot to Nanda Peak and Jim Corbett National Park. Tourists also love camping at night under the clear starry skies.

The best season to visit Pangot is between March and July. Bird-watchers should ideally wear colours that camouflage with the woods like khaki, beige and olive green.

How to reach?

Pangot should be best reached via road. From Delhi, take the NH 24 towards Rampur via Hapur and then after take the NH 87 towards Nainital through Haldwani. From Nainital, the drive to Pangot ushers the travellers through The Cheena Peak. Air vellers can take a flight to Pantnagar airport in Uttarakhand, and hire a local cab or bus to reach Nainital or Pangot in a couple of hours. Train trippers can board the train to Kathgodam and take a cab from the station to reach the desired destination.

Passengers travelling from Delhi can also take a bus from ISBT Anand Vihar bus stand for Nainital.
