Konark Sun Temple, Odisha
The 13th century temple dedicated to the Sun god, Konark Sun Temple is a marvel. Built in the Kalinga architectural style, the temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the Sun god is seen on a chariot with 24 wheels. The monumental temple compound also has motifs that point out the changing seasons, and months in a year. It is one of Odisha's most important ancient landmarks.

Kailasa Temple, Maharashtra
One of the most intriguing and fascinating ancient temples of India, the Kailasa Temple in Ellora, Maharashtra should be in your bucket list. It is a megalith carved out of a rock cliff, and this has been a matter of great curiosity for historians. There are numerous caves here in Ellora, and the Kailasa Temple is in cave 16. It is said to have been built in the 8th century, and is certainly one of India's finest wonders.

Dilwara Temples, Rajasthan
Located in Mount Abu, the Dilwara Jain Temples are beautiful to look at. The Vimal Vasahi Temple here is the oldest of the lot, built in the year 1032. The detailed ceiling work, and other intricate artworks are astonishing to say the least. The temples were built between the 11th and the 13t century. There are five major temples dedicated to the Jain Tirthankaras.

Shore Temple, Tamil Nadu
In Mahabalipuram, you will come across this outstanding temple complex, referred to as the Shore Temple. Built wit granite, going back to the 8th century, these temples were built by Narasimhavarman II of the Pallava dynasty. Out of the two shrines here, one is dedicated to Lord Shiva, while the other is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Its intricate artworks are certainly spellbinding.

Virupaksha Temple, Karnataka
Part of the Hampi Group of Monuments, Virupaksha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is said to have been functioning uninterrupted since it came into existence in the 7th century. It began as a shrine, and eventually grew into this beautiful large temple that we can see today. The main temple here is facing east.
