Uttarakhand is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Valley of Flowers and Nanda Devi National Park.

Top mountaineering institutes
India’s top two mountaineering institutes are in Uttarakhand. The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi was set up in 1965 and is one of the most famous institutes in the country. The other one is Pandit Nain Singh Surveyor Mountaineering Training Institute in Munsiyari, Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.
