Kamikochi, Nagano
This is one of Japan's prettiest highland valleys. The Hida mountainous range around is also famous as Japan's Alps. It is also often hailed as Japan's most beautiful view.

Nachi Fall, Wakayama
Come winters and a hike to the Nachi Falls in one of the country's best outdoor experiences. It falls on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route and is a part of UNESCO-designated World Heritage Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes. It is also Japan's tallest waterfall.

This active volcano is also a sight to behold and is the country's highest peak as well. The first sight of will take your breath away, making it one of Japan's famous picture postcards too.

Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo
It is hailed as one of the world's busiest crossing, and attracts a number of onlookers for the 'scamble' that happens every time the traffic stops. While it's not for everybody, it's clearly a sight to look at. Only Japan can manage something as chaotic as this so smoothly!

Mount Yoshinoyama, Yoshino
A religious site, Mount Yoshinoyama is loved for the cherry blossoms that cover the mountainside every spring. It turns into one of Japan's most visited sites when it turns pink every year.

Shirakawa-go, Gifu prefecture
It is a small, traditional village that displays the architectural design that is famous by the name of gasshō-zukuri. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is almost a fairyland in wintertime, when it snows here.

Lake Kussharo, Hokkaido
This beautiful lake lies in eastern Hokkaido. It is the sixth largest lake in the country and is spread over 57 km. You can indulge in a number of outdoor activities here, including cycling, hiking, kayaking, fishing and more.

Miyajima Island, Hiroshima
It is a famous island, quite close to Hiroshima, and is best accessible via a ferry. It is also home to one of the most revered shrine in Japan, Itsukushima Shrine. The floating red torri gate here is iconic.
Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, Kyoto
This bamboo forest is famous for all the right reasons and a place you'd fall for in the very first sight. It is also one of the most photographed sites in the country. This natural bamboo forest is the stuff beautiful outdoor dreams are made of.
Himeji Castle, Hyogo
This hilltop castle is located in Hyōgo Prefecture. It is famous for being one of the finest specimens of Japanese castle architecture. The defence system built for it is foolproof and is something you'd wander about for long. Of course, the sight is surreal too.
Kabira Bay, Okinawa
Surreal scenic beauty, coupled with inviting white sand and turquoise water is what awaits you here. Get here on a glass bottom boat for some of the best underwater sights in the region.
