Ahoi Ashtami 2023: Story
According to the Scriptures, once there was a couple lived in a small village who had seven sons. One day the wife went to the jungle to bring soil for decorating her home for Diwali festival. The moment she started digging the soil, her axe fell on a children of hedgehog and they died accidentally then the hedgehog mother cursed that woman that I will tie your womb and after a few days, her all seven sons died.

One day, old ladies came to her home and she told all that incident to those old ladies, they suggested her to worship the Ahoi Mata on every Ashtami by drawing her picture and please the cow by feeding her and cleaning her place daily. She started worshipping cow and Ahoi Mata in a same manner as old lady told her. Mother cow got pleased by seeing her devotion and asked her about the desired wish then Mother cow blessed her with the wish fulfilment and on the other hand by observing fast on Ahoi Ashtami, she got her seven sons back. Since then, this Ahoi Ashtami Vrat is observed and all the women started observing fast on this holy day of Ahoi Ashtami. Goddess Ahoi is known to be the protector of the offsprings so that's why all mothers keep fast, recite Vrat Kath, offer bhog and seek blessings of Ahoi Mata.
Ahoi Ashtami 2023: Puja Rituals
1. Wake up early in the morning and take a bath.
2. Clean the house specially puja room.
3. Prepare sattvik food and after that place an idol of Ahoi Mata.
4. Offer prayers by reciting Vrat Katha, bhog prasad and seek blessings.
5. In the evening, after sighting the stars mothers can break their fast.
