UK Minister visits Rabindranath Tagore’s abode in Kolkata

UK’s Minister for International Trade, Nigel Huddleston is in Kolkata to discuss green initiatives with the Government of West Bengal and to broaden business opportunities for British companies in the state. On his maiden visit to Kolkata, the minister, accompanied by British Deputy High Commissioner, Nick Low, visited theJorasanko Thakurbarion the morning of July 4.
Besides meeting other dignitaries, Huddleston toured the museum and paid respects to Rabindranath Tagore.

Talking about Tagore’s influence on education and literature, Huddleston said, “It’s an incredible feeling to be at Jorasanko Thakurbari, the birthplace of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in Kolkata. From his UK education to connections with literary figures like Yeats, Tagore’s influence is exceptional. I toured the museum and found it fascinating.”
