Rajya Sabha passes two bills modifying list of SC, ST in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha
Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed two bills which seek to modify the list of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The Upper House cleared the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Constitution (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024 by voice vote. The first bill seeks to modify the list of Scheduled Tribes in Andhra Pradesh, while the second one seeks to modify the list of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in Odisha.

A huge ruckus broke out in Lok Sabha on Tuesday after Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP TR Baalu called Union MoS L Murugan 'unfit to be a minister', a remark which the Bharatiya Janata Party said is an insult to the entire Dalit community.
The ruckus erupted when a discussion during Question Hour on damages caused due to natural disasters was underway.
On the day when the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill was tabled in the Uttarakhand State Assembly, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saugata Roy said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can do so in states ruled by their party but it will not be possible in West Bengal.
"They can implement UCC in BJP-ruled states but it will not happen in West Bengal," Roy said speaking to reporters at the Parliament premises on Tuesday
Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal says, "He (DMK MP TR Baalu) wanted to insult him (MoS & BJP leader L Murugan). We have demanded an apology from him. Congress leaders also supported him."

The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday tabled the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill in the state legislative assembly. After the assembly passes it and it becomes an Act, Uttarakhand will become the first state post-independence to implement UCC.

The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami-led government will table the Uniform Civil Code Bill in the state legislative assembly on Tuesday.
The bill will be tabled during the ongoing four-day special session of the assembly, which began on Monday.
On Sunday, the Uttarakhand Cabinet approved the final draft of the UCC, which proposes uniform civil laws for all communities in the state.
Union minister for law and justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said on Monday that the Uniform Civil Code is in the consultation process and being reviewed by the Law Commission of India.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to move The Finance Bill, 2024 for its consideration and passage in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
The Lower House will also hold a general discussion on the Interim Union Budget for 2024-25, which was presented on February 1, the second day of the Budget Session.
"Finance Minister Sitharaman will move that the Bill to continue the existing rates of income-tax for the financial year 2024-2025 and to provide for certain relief to taxpayers and to make amendments in certain enactments, be taken into consideration.
