26/11 Mumbai terror strike: How TOI covered the deadly attacks

NEW DELHI: In a three-day onslaught that began on November 26, 2008, 10 heavily-armed terrorists from Pakistan targeted several high-profile locations across Mumbai, including the landmark Taj Hotel at the Gateway, the Oberoi Trident at Nariman Point, Leopold Café and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus.
One hundred and sixty-six people were killed and over 300 were injured in the deadly attacks as the terrorists went on a rampage across the city.All except one - Ajmal Kasab - were eventually killed in counter-terror operations.
TOI's reporters provided exhaustive on-the-ground coverage of the attacks as they unfolded over the three days - November 26, 27 and 28. Photojournalist Sebastian D'Souza who worked for the Mumbai Mirror - a Times of India publication, armed with only his Nikon camera and two lenses, even clicked the chilling photograph of terrorist Ajmal Kasab at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus carrying an assault rifle in one hand. This image and his testimony from the day went on to play a crucial role in the 26/11 trial.
