11 years of 'Don Seenu': 5 reasons why the Ravi Teja and Shriya Saran starrer turned out to be a biggest hit of the year

Director Gopichand Malineni’s debut film Don Seenu, featuring mass maharaja Ravi Teja, Shriya Saran and Anjana Sukhani, completes 11 years today. Don Seenu is considered a commercial hit at the box office. The film did receive much appreciation for its commercial aspects and is now celebrated by Ravi Teja’s fans all over the internet. The film was released in 2010, and the Twitterati have spared no time in making it trend with the hashtag ‘11YearsOfDonSeenu’. As the film completed 11 years today, here’re the reasons why the romantic action entertainer turned out to be the biggest hit at the box office.

Don Seenu revolves around an ambitious youth Seenu, who dreams of becoming a crime lord, joins hands with the mafia kingpin Machiraju and gains his trust. He is assigned a task to make Narsing’s sister fall in love with him to avenge a series of events. Shriya Saran was seen as Deepti, Sayaji Shinde’s sister, who was paired romantically opposite Ravi Teja. The rest of the story follows the kind of turns his life takes when he tries to reunite his sister with her husband Narsing.

Director Gopichand Malineni started his career as an assistant to EVV Satyanarayana, Sreenu Vaitla, AR Murugadoss and Meher Ramesh. After working for several hit films, he made his directorial debut with Don Seenu, which packed with romance, comedy, action and emotions turned out to be a favourite for many. The film was a huge box office success. Then, he has directed several blockbusters hits like Bodyguard, Balupu, Pandaga Chesko and Krack.

The musical score of the film was also well received. Don Seenu was an amazing film with even more amazing songs. "Aidhella Vayasu", "Raja Raja Ravi Teja", "Aduguthundi" and "Andhamemo Istaraku", which were composed by Mani Sharma, became quite popular at the time. Don Seenu had a dream run in Telugu states, completing 100 days of run in selected centres. Ravi Teja has expanded his fanbase over the years, and his selection of films has been spot on. The film also stars actors late Srihari, Sayaji Shinde, Kasthuri, Brahmanandam, Ali, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sudha, Satyam Rajesh, Raghubabu, Duvvasi Mohan, Raja Ravindra, Brahmaji and others in pivotal roles. The project was bankrolled under the banners of RR Movie Makers, Lotus Five Star and Great India Films. Sameer Reddy took care of cinematography, while Gowtam Raju Rao has edited the flick.
