Chiranjeevi has made his mark as a megastar in the Telugu film industry. Many of his films have been industry hits, and several films have broken industry records. One among them is 'Indra'. After Gang Leader and Gharana Mogudu, he had gone through several failures in his career, and it’s been a long time since he starred in commercial mass entertainers. Indra, starring Aarthi Agarwal and Sonali Bendre as the leading ladies, was released on July 24, 2002. With the release of this movie, the theatres were crowded with people who hailed the astounding performance of Chiru. The film also starred Sivaji, Tanish, Vinaya Prasad, Mukesh Rishi, Prakash Raj, Puneet Issar, Raza Murad, Tanikella Bharani, Ahuti Prasad, Sunil, Brahmanandam, Sameer, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, MS Narayana, Pavala Syamala, Narra Venkateswara Rao, AVS, Raja Ravindra and others in crucial roles.

The Chiranjeevi-starrer made in a huge budget of Rs 15 crore under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies. Surprising everyone, it reportedly grossed Rs 35 crore in the long run at the worldwide box office, becoming the highest-grossing film of the year.

When it comes to looking at the number of tickets it sold, Indra is reportedly the only film in Tollywood that sold over 2 crore tickets worldwide so far. According to current statistics, the value is estimated at Rs 350 crore. As said earlier, the audience were flooding the theatres to watch mischievous Sonali Bendre and beautiful Aarthi Agarwal, and powerful megastar Chiranjeevi and his dance moves. The scenes are still evergreen in all Tollywood fans’ hearts.
