Security measures to beef up, 1020 company forces to be deployed in 7th phase polling
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the Central Government today, alleging unjust cancellation of Aadhaar cards, particularly targeting the Matua community. Mamata accused the Center of arbitrary actions, stating, "before the elections, what was the need that the Aadhaar of thousands of people is being cancelled, injustice is being done to the backward people, the card of Matua community is being cancelled. Center is behaving like a landlord." In response, Mamata announced the inauguration of the Aadhaar Grievances Portal of West Bengal, scheduled to start operating from tomorrow, providing a platform for citizens to register complaints regarding Aadhaar cancellation.
Mamata Banerjee further stated that her government would provide alternative cards to individuals whose Aadhaar cards had been canceled, emphasizing the importance of peaceful elections and asserting, "Elections are not won by hooliganism, the name here is Bengal."
