Artemisia ludoviciana, also called White Sagebrush, is a hardy perennial native to North America. Its silvery-gray leaves release a distinctive aroma when touched. Clusters of small, pale yellow-orange flowers bloom in late summer, attracting pollinators. Thriving in well-draining soil and full sun, it's drought-resistant and adapts to diverse conditions. Artemisia ludoviciana brings both visual charm and historical importance to gardens, connecting landscapes to native heritage.  Zones 4-10

Germination

To germinate Artemisia ludoviciana seeds, begin by preparing a seed starting tray or small pots filled with a well-draining seed starting mix, such as a blend of peat moss and perlite. Scatter the seeds evenly over the surface of the soil and lightly press them into the soil with your fingertips, ensuring good soil contact. Since Artemisia ludoviciana seeds require light for germination, avoid covering them with additional soil. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged by misting regularly or using a gentle watering can. Place the tray or pots in a warm location with indirect sunlight, maintaining a temperature between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Germination typically occurs within 7-21 days. Once the seedlings emerge, provide adequate spacing if growing in trays, or transplant them into individual pots when they have developed a few sets of true leaves. Artemisia ludoviciana prefers well-drained soil and full sun. Continue to care for the seedlings with proper watering and light as they grow into mature Artemisia ludoviciana plants.
