Kaligram Rathindranath Institution of Patisar, Naogaon

Kaligram Rathindranath Institution is an educational institution located in Kaligram Union of Atrai Upazila of Naogaon District, Bangladesh. This is a high school. Rabindranath Tagore himself built the educational institution. He built the high school with the money he received from the Nobel Prize 

The Tagore family of Jorasanko had three zamindars in Bangladesh. They are Shilaidha in Kushtia district, Shahajadpur in Sirajganj district, and Kaligram in Naogaon district. Rabindranath Tagore got the responsibility of zamindar of Kaligram by inheritance.

Rabindranath Tagore came to Kaligram on June 13, 1891, to look after the zamindari. He came here for the last time on July 27, 1937. Rabindranath Tagore came many times to the village of Ranjan in Kaligram union in Atrai to conduct the zamindari work.

Kaligram Rathindranath Institution was established in 1937. The high school is named after Rathindranath, son of Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore established the high school with Nobel Prize money.

After the death of Rabindranath Tagore, his son Rathindranath inherited the zamindari. He came to Kaligram around 1945 with his wife Pratima Devi. He was attracted to the institution built in his name. He was in regular contact with the teachers and students at that time.

Kaligram Rathindranath Institution was built of mud at that time. The memory of Rabindranath Tagore is embedded in this high school. Rabindranath’s blessings, letters, his last speech to the people, and various books given by him are collected in this institution. Many memorabilia of Rabindranath including letters of Rabindranath Tagore’s son Rathindranath Tagore, Rabindranath’s daughter-in-law Pratima Devi are collected in this institution

On the occasion of the birth and death anniversaries of Rabindranath Tagore, various programs are organized at Kaligram Rathindranath Institution. Education programs are ongoing in mud houses at the Rabindranath memorial.

However, due to the negligence of the authorities, a mud house enshrined in the Rabindranath memorial has been demolished. Many relics of Rabindranath are on the verge of destruction due to a lack of preservation by proper authorities
