Former Tiger defensive back Ahmaad Smith will have the opportunity to play in the NFL through the reality show "4th and Long".
The show, which airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. on Spike TV, is hosted by former Dallas Cowboy pro bowler and NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin. After three cuts, Smith remains among eight contestants.
4th and Long, filmed at the Cotton Bowl, began airing on May 18th and featured 12 athletes (six defensive backs, six wide receivers) ranging from the collegiate, semi-pro, and Arena Football League ranks. The winner after the ten episodes will fill the last remaining spot on the Dallas Cowboys' 80-man roster.
Smith played for TSU from 2002 - 2005 posting 13 tackles (six solo, seven assisted, one tackle for loss), three pass break-ups and one interception. After college, Smith played a short stint professionally with the semi-pro Mississippi Mudcats.
Smith was the only HBCU athlete selected making the cut with nearly 250 athletes competing for a chance to show what it takes to make it to the NFL.
