Zoos indeed are great places for fun and learning, as animal admirers can watch a range of fascinating wild creatures at a safe distance under controlled conditions. But sometimes, even zoos can be dangerous when humans get too close. A scary incident in Alipore zoo terrified the people of Kolkata on Friday morning.

According to reports, a man was mauled by a lion in Kolkata's zoo after he entered the animal's cage. The man has been seriously injured by the lion and there were several claw marks on his body.

The man was reportedly seen roaming in front of the lion's enclosure this morning. Suddenly, he climbed up the enclosure to the net and entered the lion's cage. The man was then attacked by the creature. The lion tried to drag him away. But within a short time, the workers in the zoo noticed what was happening and  One of them rescued the man from the lion's mouth. By then the man was quite injured. He has been admitted to SSC Hospital by the zoo authorities. The name and identity of the man are yet to be ascertained.

The incident has raised serious questions on the security lapses of the Alipore Zoo as a few days ago, three foreign birds were stolen from a birdcage in front of the lion's enclosure.

Though the zoo authorities have claimed that the man is not in a condition to talk and is mentally unstable but the question is how did the man enter the cage amid so much of security and CCTV cameras.
